I read an interesting article recently on the effect of photographing the food that eat throughout the day. The original article can be found here – photo.

Basically, the article summarizes a study done by the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In the study, researchers asked 43 or so participants to either photograph or write down everything they ate in a day. At the end of the study the people that photographed their meals kept more accurate records and were less likely to overeat.

Sounds like a recipe for successfully sticking to your diet/lifestyle to me. Personally, I have found that logging my food in Fitday helps me by not allowing me to fudge the number of calories and Zone blocks I am eating on a daily basis. The problem with logging my food in Fitday is if I am sick or away from the computer for an extended period of time I sometimes forget the quantities that I eat. Additionally, part of the reason I bought my LG Dare phone was the great built in camera. Now I have a good reason to use the camera as well as add motivation to eating healthy. Watch for upcoming picture posts of the food I am eating. I doubt it will be appetizing as I am currently working on just eating correctly and not presentation.

Chow for now.
